UP IN TIME FINISHES STRONG TO TAKE THE GRADE III HAROLD C. RAMSER, SR. STAKES
Arcadia, Calif. (October 16, 2011)—They all bunched up at the top of the stretch, but the British-bred Up In Time beat out Celestial Kitten to take the $100,000 Harold C. Ramser, Sr. Stakes at Santa Anita Park.
“She’s a good filly and she took me where I wanted to be,” said jockey Martin Garcia, “when I asked her she just took off.” Martin Garcia was able to score back-to-back victories with this win.
Up In Time was unable to compete in the Grade I Del Mar Oaks (July 24), but proved today she belongs with Graded company taking her second Graded stake in three months. “She had a good trip and she was travelling so easily through the race,” said trainer Simon Callaghan, “She was a little handier on the pace than I expected she’d be, but she stayed on well and it was a good performance.”
Santa Anita will resume at 1 p.m. on October 20. HRTV is available streaming live at HRTV.com.
