ARCADIA, CA (February 24, 2014)-The Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap on March 8 will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 as part of the new Jockey Club Tour on Fox television series, the Jockey Club and Fox announced on Monday.

The Jockey Club had been seeking to add the Big Cap to the series for several weeks because of a field that is expected to include the first two finishers in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic, Mucho Macho Man and Will Take Charge, and the top handicap horse Game On Dude. The telecast will air from 7 to 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Fox Sports 1, an all-sports channel that Fox launched last summer.

The broadcast will be the second in the new Fox Sports 1 series, which is being underwritten by the Jockey Club. The first broadcast was on Feb. 9, featuring the Donn Handicap, in which Will Take Charge finished second to Lea in his 2014 debut.

Jockey Club officials said that the race was able to be added to the series after Santa Anita officials agreed to change the Big Cap’s post time to accommodate an open broadcast window on Fox Sports 1.
