Continuing a long-standing tradition, the Oak Tree Racing Association will contribute a share of proceeds from its 26-day 2008 meeting to worthy charitable and civic institutions through the Oak Tree Charitable Foundation. Oak Tree annually contributes a minimum of two-tenths of one percent of the total on-track handle on live races conducted during the meet.
The Oak Tree Charitable Foundation, through its Charity Days, distributed $51,234 in June 2009 to industry charities. In 40 seasons at Oak Tree, over $4.7 million has been disbursed by the former Oak Tree Foundation and the Oak Tree Charitable Foundation through its Charity Days.
In 1995, the private Oak Tree Charitable Foundation was established replacing the Oak Tree Foundation. The directors of Oak Tree Racing Association also serve as directors of the Charitable Foundation.
In 2009, Oak Tree dispersed 100 percent of its charity day funds to equine industry organizations, including California Equine Retirement Foundation; California Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Foundation; Don MacBeth Memorial Jockey Fund; The Disabled Jockey Endowment; Harry A. Biszantz Memorial Center; United Pegasus Foundation, Winners Foundation, Southern California Equine Foundation and Glen Ellen Vocational Academy.
