ELMONT, N.Y. (June 3, 2015) -- Zayat Stables has agreed to a marketing deal with the energy drink brand Monster that will have dual classic winner American Pharoah blanketed in logos from the brand as he prepares for his run at Triple Crown glory this weekend.
ESPN.com reports that the deal between Zayat Stables and Monster was negotiated by the New York-based Leverage Agency. The financial terms were not disclosed, but it is believed to be “one of the largest single-horse sponsorship deals in history.”
According to the article, the deal gives Monster the right to have its logo on American Pharoah’s pre-race cooling blanket, and the company’s ‘Monster girls’ will surround the colt leading up to the Belmont Stakes. The logo will also be on hats worn by the Zayats and the collar of Victor Espinoza’s silks.
“We have a horse that’s a unique talent that is going for the Triple Crown, and we’re pleased to be associated with a beverage brand like Monster,” said Ahmed Zayat. “We hope the drink gives our horse that extra kick.”
